Creating Resilience During Times of Uncertainty

A cancer diagnosis often causes stress and anxiety. Bouncing between appointments, tests and treatments while trying to balance life’s everyday concerns can wear us down.

Join us for a seminar that will explore the concept of resilience and help us to create some strategies to ease life’s current challenges.

This session is offered by Stephanie Burlein-Hall.  Stephanie is a registered nurse with over 35 years of oncology nursing and education experience.  Most recently Stephanie worked in the symptom management program at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.  In addition to being a Hearth Place volunteer, Stephanie is also a cancer survivor.

To register for the next scheduled session, please contact Stephanie at stephanie@hearthplace.org or call 905-579-4833.

Exploring Our Values in Health Care

During this two-part workshop, we will discover our own health care values, uncovering what is important to us. We will learn how to start the conversation with our families and Substitute Decision Makers about our wishes, so that they are able to speak with our voice if we cannot speak for ourselves.

Please contact Stephanie at stephanie@hearthplace.org or call 905-579-4833 to register.

Helpful Hints for Holiday Grief

This festive season may be the first, or one of many, that you are facing without your loved one. Trying to compromise between your needs and those of others is difficult.  Join Wendy as she shares helpful and healing strategies for the holiday season.

The next workshop is Thursday, December 4, from 10:00-11:30am.

Please contact Stephanie at stephanie@hearthplace.org or call 905-579-4833 to register.

Wills: Learning the Basics

We all need to plan for the unexpected. Join Trallee Fanara, CIM, CIFP, FCSI, as she helps us to understand the importance of having a will, and what is in it, before something surprising comes along. There is a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing that you have set your wishes into a formal document, while you have time to think about what those wishes are.
