Coping With Fatigue and Depression
Are you battling cancer-related fatigue? Do you feel depression creeping into your life? Please join us as we compassionately address these two aspects of living with cancer. You will learn tips for self-care, and information about when to seek medical assistance.
This session is offered by Stephanie Burlein-Hall. Stephanie is a registered nurse with over 35 years of oncology nursing and education experience. Most recently Stephanie worked in the symptom management program at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. In addition to being a Hearth Place volunteer, Stephanie is also a cancer survivor.

Creating Resilience During Times of Uncertainty
A cancer diagnosis often causes stress and anxiety. Bouncing between appointments, tests and treatments while trying to balance life’s everyday concerns can wear us down.
Join us for a seminar that will explore the concept of resilience and help us to create some strategies to ease life’s current challenges.

Exploring Our Values in Health Care
During this two-part workshop, we will discover our own health care values, uncovering what is important to us. We will learn how to start the conversation with our families and Substitute Decision Makers about our wishes, so that they are able to speak with our voice if we cannot speak for ourselves.

Lymphedema Information Seminars
We are excited to be offering ongoing seminars on lymphedema with Heather Cirone, CDT. Topics include exercises for lymphedema management, the importance of stretching, breathing and posture, as well as lower limb lymphedema, and self-massage.

Substitute Decision Makers – Who Will Speak for You When You Cannot Speak for Yourself?

Are you tired of trying to find ‘sleep nirvana’ (pun intended!)? This presentation will discuss the role of sleep in maintaining health, provide tools to assess sleep issues, and will give us strategies to improve our sleep, focusing on those living with cancer.

Wills: Learning the Basics
We all need to plan for the unexpected. Join Trallee Fanara, CIM, CIFP, FCSI, as she helps us to understand the importance of having a will, and what is in it, before something surprising comes along. There is a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing that you have set your wishes into a formal document, while you have time to think about what those wishes are.
