    This 8-week exercise program is designed to help you regain and maintain your range of motion, build core strength and enhance physical fitness. All routines taught in Do It With Ease are designed for those who have had cancer surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotherapy, or who deal with cancer-related chronic fatigue. Designed and led by a physiotherapist.

    Note that a signed Exercise Consent form must be provided prior to the start of the series for all participants.

Yoga mats, blocks and other equipment is provided.

    This support group offers support for the caregiver as they care for their loved ones. Caregivers will develop a wealth of self-care tools to reduce personal stress, change negative self-talk, communicate their needs to family members and healthcare providers, deal with difficult feelings and make tough caregiver decisions.

    Your Body Image: Changing How You Think, Not How You Look

    Is it hard to accept how your body has changed because of cancer and treatment?
    Do you feel like you do not know your body anymore?

    This 9-week series can help you learn how to be more accepting of your body through education, group discussions and relaxation exercises.

    The series is for women who have completed cancer treatments, and runs weekly on Wednesdays from April 30 - June 25, 10:00am - 12:00pm

    Advance registration is required for this series as space is limited.

    Metastatic Cancer Support Group

    Metastatic Cancer Support Group

    This program provides patients with metastatic cancer the opportunity to meet with other metastatic cancer patients. In a supportive and non-threatening setting, sessions focus on discussion and sharing of feelings and concerns regarding unique issues that can be triggered by this diagnosis. Through participation in this program patients may find comfort and reassurance and improve their ability to cope with the roller-coaster of emotions and re-entry into the medical system.

    This group meets weekly on Wednesdays, from 12:30-2:30pm.

    Lymphoma and Blood Related Cancers Support Group

    This on-going enthusiastic support group is for those diagnosed with a blood cancer, being a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease, Leukemia or Multiple Myeloma, and we are committed to:

    • Giving Support and strength through initial diagnosis and in the event of recurrence
    • Providing educational material and resources to help you understand and make informed decisions about your treatment and wellness after treatment

All materials are provided; all you need to bring is your imagination.

    Bring your plants in 4-inch pots (or larger).

    Sun exposure (full sun, part shade, shade)
    Growth habit (spreading, upright, trailing, etc.)
    Special care instructions (if needed)

    Pole-Walking for Lymphedema Management

    Pole-Walking for Lymphedema Management

    The benefits of pole-walking for the lymphedema community have been recently highlighted in research studies. In this 6-week series, we will learn about these benefits, and how to be properly fitted for walking poles. We will learn how to use them as we walk together in the Oshawa community. Poles will be provided for in-class use. This series is designed for cancer patients who are currently dealing with, or are at an increased risk of, lymphedema as a result of cancer treatments.

    A cancer diagnosis is a life-changing experience, not only physically, but psychologically and spiritually as well. The Healing Journey program has been developed to offer support to people looking for new ways to help themselves. This series is a four session introduction to the Healing Journey, during which you will learn stress management techniques like deep relaxation, thought watching and mental imaging, as well as emotional awareness and expression.

    Coping With Cancer Stress is the first level in the Healing Journey series, developed by Dr. Alastair Cunningham at the Princess Margaret Hospital and is facilitated by Sue Valentine.

    This program provides patients with metastatic cancer the opportunity to meet with other metastatic cancer patients. In a supportive and non-threatening setting, sessions focus on discussion and sharing of feelings and concerns regarding unique issues that can be triggered by this diagnosis. Through participation in this program patients may find comfort and reassurance and improve their ability to cope with the roller-coaster of emotions and re-entry into the medical system.

    Pole-Walking for Lymphedema Management

    The benefits of pole-walking for the lymphedema community have been recently highlighted in research studies. In this 6-week series, we will learn about these benefits, and how to be properly fitted for walking poles. We will learn how to use them as we walk together in the Oshawa community. Poles will be provided for in-class use. This series is designed for cancer patients who are currently dealing with, or are at an increased risk of, lymphedema as a result of cancer treatments.

    This 8-week exercise program is designed to help you regain and maintain your range of motion, build core strength and enhance physical fitness. All routines taught in Do It With Ease are designed for those who have had cancer surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotherapy, or who deal with cancer-related chronic fatigue. Designed and led by a physiotherapist.

    Note that a signed Exercise Consent form must be provided prior to the start of the series for all participants.

    A cancer diagnosis is a life-changing experience, not only physically, but psychologically and spiritually as well. The Healing Journey program has been developed to offer support to people looking for new ways to help themselves. This series is a four session introduction to the Healing Journey, during which you will learn stress management techniques like deep relaxation, thought watching and mental imaging, as well as emotional awareness and expression.

    Coping With Cancer Stress is the first level in the Healing Journey series, developed by Dr. Alastair Cunningham at the Princess Margaret Hospital and is facilitated by Sue Valentine.
