30th Anniversary

Share Your Story: 30 Stories for 30 Years

For 30 years, Hearth Place has been a place of support, compassion, and community for people facing cancer and loss. Now we’re turning 30 (January 29, 2027), and we’d love to hear from you.

Maybe you found us when a diagnosis turned everything upside down. Maybe you volunteered, donated, or said goodbye to someone you love here. However you know us, your story matters.

As part of our anniversary, we’re collecting stories from the people who make Hearth Place what it is: patients, family members, volunteers, donors, staff, and community advocates. Your story could become part of our 30 Stories for 30 Years series, running throughout 2027.

It starts with a quick online form. Just a few sentences will do. Tell us how you’re connected to Hearth Place and what it’s meant to you. From there, someone from our storytelling team will reach out to learn more and talk through next steps, including consent. You’re in the driver’s seat the whole way, and you can step back at any time.

Here’s the thing. Too many people in Durham Region still don’t know we exist. We’re the only cancer support centre between Toronto and Kingston, and everything we offer is free.

When you share your story, you help the next family facing cancer find their way to us.
