Do you compare your cancer experience to others' experiences, whose situations you believe are worse than yours? How do you handle the guilt you feel about how worried your loved ones are about you?

    This 5-part series explores the different ways we feel guilt during our cancer experience and beyond. We will discuss understanding, acknowledging and managing these emotions to help us make peace with them.

    This support group offers support for the caregiver as they care for their loved ones. Caregivers will develop a wealth of self-care tools to reduce personal stress, change negative self-talk, communicate their needs to family members and healthcare providers, deal with difficult feelings and make tough caregiver decisions.

    Walking has long been known to be a beneficial activity for both physical and emotional health. Studies show that time spent outdoors is good for our well-being. The social aspect of joining others for a walk is also important, to say nothing of the positive effects on our bodies.

    Our Walk Club meets weekly, on Wednesday mornings, from 10:00-11:00am. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, SPF, a hat, and bring a water bottle.

    Metastatic Cancer Support Group

    This program provides patients with metastatic cancer the opportunity to meet with other metastatic cancer patients. In a supportive and non-threatening setting, sessions focus on discussion and sharing of feelings and concerns regarding unique issues that can be triggered by this diagnosis. Through participation in this program patients may find comfort and reassurance and improve their ability to cope with the roller-coaster of emotions and re-entry into the medical system.

    This group meets weekly on Wednesdays, from 12:30-2:30pm.

    The benefits of pole-walking for the lymphedema community have been highlighted in research studies. Join us for our weekly walk in the community, beginning at Hearth Place with time to do a short warm-up, and ending here for a cool-down. Enjoy the fresh air, and social connection that comes from walking together.

    A special introductory class will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 9:30am for those wishing to join this program for the first time.

    Poles will be provided for in-class use.

    This program is for cancer patients who are currently dealing with, or are at an increased risk of, lymphedema as a result of cancer treatments.

    This 8-week exercise program is designed to help you regain and maintain your range of motion, build core strength and enhance physical fitness. All routines taught in Do It With Ease are designed for those who have had cancer surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotherapy, or who deal with cancer-related chronic fatigue. Designed and led by a physiotherapist.

    Note that an Exercise Consent Form, signed by a doctor or nurse practitioner, must be provided prior to the start of the series for all participants.

Yoga mats, blocks and other equipment are provided.

    This on-going enthusiastic support group is for those diagnosed with a blood cancer, being a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease, Leukemia or Multiple Myeloma, and we are committed to:

    • Giving Support and strength through initial diagnosis and in the event of recurrence
    • Providing educational material and resources to help you understand and make informed decisions about your treatment and wellness after treatment

    Pole-Walking for Lymphedema Management

    The benefits of pole-walking for the lymphedema community have been highlighted in research studies. Join us for our weekly walk in the community, beginning at Hearth Place with time to do a short warm-up, and ending here for a cool-down. Enjoy the fresh air, and social connection that comes from walking together.

    A special introductory class will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 9:30am for those wishing to join this program for the first time.

    Poles will be provided for in-class use.

    This program is for cancer patients who are currently dealing with, or are at an increased risk of, lymphedema as a result of cancer treatments.

    Do It With Ease

    Do It With Ease

    This 8-week exercise program is designed to help you regain and maintain your range of motion, build core strength and enhance physical fitness. All routines taught in Do It With Ease are designed for those who have had cancer surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotherapy, or who deal with cancer-related chronic fatigue. Designed and led by a physiotherapist.

    Note that an Exercise Consent Form, signed by a doctor or nurse practitioner, must be provided prior to the start of the series for all participants.

    A cancer diagnosis is a life-changing experience, not only physically, but psychologically and spiritually as well. The Healing Journey program has been developed to offer support to people looking for new ways to help themselves. This series is a four session introduction to the Healing Journey, during which you will learn stress management techniques like deep relaxation, thought watching and mental imaging, as well as emotional awareness and expression.

    Mindful Movements Yoga

    Join Brea for our weekly, in-person yoga class. Brea created this program for anyone who is affected by cancer. The practice encourages us to take care of our bodies through awareness and movement. Classes include Balance and Restore, Hospital Hunch and Hips, Mellow Movement, Whole Body Soothing Flow, and more. The movements are gentle, and no previous experience is required. Yoga mats, blocks and other equipment are provided.

    This 8-week, in person series is for women who have been through cancer surgery and treatment. We will explore fear of recurrence, returning to work, scanxiety, relationships, self-care and other areas of life after cancer. Whether you feel hopeful, anxious, grateful or all of the above, every emotion is welcome.

    For women who are 6 months post-treatment for any type of cancer.
