Making the Most of Your Doctor's Appointments

This presentation will discuss ways to have more effective meetings with your health care team.  Good communication is very important in cancer care.  This is open to all members and their families and caregivers.

This session is offered by Stephanie Burlein-Hall.  Stephanie is a registered nurse with over 35 years of oncology nursing and education experience.  Most recently Stephanie worked in the symptom management program at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.  In addition to being a Hearth Place volunteer, Stephanie is also a cancer survivor.

Date: Thursday November 14th from 10:30 – 12:00pm and repeated on Tuesday November 26th from 7:00 – 8:30pm.

Managing the Holidays Seminar

The holidays can be challenging and stressful for anyone – and are even more so for those dealing with cancer.  Join us for a seminar that will examine both medical and emotional ways to help you cope with the holidays.  This talk is open to all members and family caregivers.

Helpful Hints for Holiday Grief

This holiday season may be the first, or one of many, that you are facing without your loved one.  If so, the apprehension and dread you may be feeling are normal.  Trying to compromise between your needs and the needs of others is difficult to say the least.  Most people say, “I will never get through this.”  But you can.

Join Tom Easthope, Grief Educator, as he shares helpful and healing strategies as you embrace the holiday season.

Fatigue Management Information Session

Are you feeling tired?  Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms and treatment side effects experienced by people with cancer.  This discussion will explore participants’ experiences with fatigue and provide strategies to help cope with this symptom.  This talk is open to all members and family caregivers.
