Our Educational Programs are partnered with the Central East Regional Cancer Program in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario.  All of our programs are offered free of charge.

Money Matters

Description: Information about how to pay for your treatment medications, learn about financial assistance and drug coverage programs. Bring your forms in for help to complete them.

Facilitator: A Social Worker from the Durham Region Cancer Centre

Take A Breath: How will you manage?

Description: In this workshop you will learn how stress affects your body and discover coping strategies to help you relax and feel better.

Schedule: Take a Breath is held the second Monday of each month from 1:30-3:30pm.

Facilitator: A Social Worker from the Durham Region Cancer Centre

Food For Thought: Eat Well to Feel Well During Cancer Treatment

Description: This nutrition class will provide education about healthy eating strategies to maintain weight, stay well during treatment and manage potential side-effects. Questions about antioxidants, natural health products and nutritional supplements will also be answered.

Facilitator: A Nutritionist from the Durham Region Cancer Centre.

Breast Cancer Pre-Surgery Information Session

Description: In this workshop you will learn about the surgical procedure and pre and post-surgical care. It provides an opportunity for you to have your questions answered by a nurse from Lakeridge Health.

Schedule: Every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30 – 3:30pm

Facilitator: A Nurse from the Durham Region Cancer Centre.

Lymphedema Education and Assessment Program LEAP

Description: This is a lymphedema clinic for members who have developed lymphedema as a result of cancer treatments.  Our goal is to provide accessible early assessment, education, and support for people at risk of, or living with Lymphedema related to a cancer diagnosis.

Schedule: Appointments are available on the first Saturday and third Monday of each month.
